Dice-K Pitches Complete Game
Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched a complete game against the Detriot Tigers last night, making him the first Red Sox rookie to do so since Tim VanEgmond in 1994. Allowing only one run in 9 innings and no-walks, Dice-K had great command of his pitches.
So far this season, Matsuzaka is 5 - 2 and is pitching extremely well at home. Having pitched 124 pitches last night, we finally saw the great durability that Dice-K was reported to have in Japan. Expect to see more of these long starts from him in the future.
“I wouldn’t say that my stuff was the best that I’ve ever had with the Red Sox so far, but as for the results, I’m definitely the most happy about what happened today,” Matsuzaka said through a translator. “But at the same time, I don’t want to settle and have to say that going forward, the way I pitched today was the best I can pitch. I hope to improve continually.” Reported by Boston Herald
